HOUSTON, June 23, 2009 — TRIMIRA LLC has partnered with National Distribution & Contracting, Inc. (NDC) to distribute TRIMIRA's next-generation oral cancer detection device, Identafi™ 3000.

"Trimira provides the NDC distributor members the opportunity to present an innovative product to their customers. Identafi 3000 features the latest technology in oral cancer screening in which early diagnosis is critical," states Lori Paulson, VP of marketing & dental programs for NDC, which is the largest organization of independent dental, medical, surgical, veterinary, and laboratory supply distributors in the U.S.

"The dental community has demonstrated huge interest in Identafi 3000's multispectral fluorescence and reflectance technology," TRIMIRA VP, Marketing Jerry S. Trzeciak said. "Identafi 3000's three distinct color wavelengths enhance the visualization of mucosal abnormalities, such as oral cancer or premalignant dysplasia that may not be apparent to the naked eye."

Trzeciak noted that Identafi 3000 was discussed at Tufts' School of Dental Medicine's recent  symposium on oral cancer.

Trzeciak said Identafi 3000 was designed for early detection use by dentists and hygienists, primary care practitioners, oral surgeons, and otolaryngologists. "The combination of all three multispectral wavelengths provides the clinician with more visual information resulting in fewer false positives," he said, "and increased confidence for recommending biopsies as well as reducing the need for follow-up biopsies." Identafi 3000's features and benefits include:

    • Small, compact size
    • Space-saving design fits any treatment room
    • Reasonable price of system and disposables
    • Real-time results
    • Ergonomic design
    • The combination of all three multispectral wavelengths provides the clinician with more visual information resulting in fewer false positives and increased confidence for recommending biopsies and reducing the need for follow-up biopsy
    • Avoids the need for messy, bad-tasting dyes/solutions
    • Expands practice treatment offerings
    • In-office training and marketing materials provided
    • Enhances perception of practice as the “highest standard of care”
